DartPoints’ $125 Million Greenville Data Center Expansion Moves Forward

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Construction is underway on a $125 million expansion of DartPoints’ Greenville County data center that will boost the facility’s power capacity fivefold, adding 88,000 square feet of high-density space built to handle artificial intelligence and other demanding computing workloads.

The project, at DartPoints’ existing site in the Global Business Park off Interstate 85 near Laurens Road, will raise the facility’s total capacity from 2.5 megawatts to 12.5 megawatts. It adds to a fast-growing local footprint for high-performance computing real estate that already includes NorthMark Strategies’ $2.8 billion data center campus in Spartanburg County.

Fivefold capacity increase

The Dallas-based colocation and cloud provider said the expansion will feature flexible suite configurations and cooling systems capable of supporting densities up to 120 kilowatts per cabinet — engineering built to serve AI training clusters, enterprise cloud workloads and edge computing customers that need capacity closer to where their data is generated. The project is expected to create 10 new high-tech jobs and was announced in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Commerce.

“Greenville has been a part of our platform for nearly two decades,” Scott Willis, DartPoints’ president and CEO, said in a company statement. “Expanding our Critical IT Power in this market strengthens the local technology ecosystem while giving customers the performance, efficiency and reliability they need closer to where their data lives.”

State officials tout tech investment

Gov. Henry McMaster pointed to the project as evidence of South Carolina’s pull with data-driven industries. “DartPoints’ growth in Greenville shows how innovation and infrastructure investment go hand in hand,” McMaster said in a statement. “This project reinforces South Carolina’s position as a destination for technology-driven business.”

Part of a broader growth push

The Greenville expansion is one piece of a larger multi-market buildout DartPoints is pursuing with investment partner NOVA Infrastructure across the Southeast and Midwest, including recent moves in Kentucky and Ohio. The company already operates data centers in Columbia, Charleston and Spartanburg, giving it one of the denser colocation footprints among Upstate and Midlands markets.

Data center construction has become an increasingly visible driver of Upstate industrial and infrastructure real estate, following NorthMark’s massive Spartanburg County project and continued interest from colocation and hyperscale operators drawn to the region’s power availability and fiber connectivity. Unlike large hyperscale campuses that can require hundreds of acres, DartPoints’ Greenville buildout is adding density to an existing site rather than new ground-up construction — a pattern that is becoming more common as land near substations grows scarcer.

Operations at the expanded facility are expected to come online in July 2027.
